Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) is a New York economics professor who wants Nick Young (Henry Golding) to meet her family. She travels to Singapore with him, only to discover his family is obscenely wealthy and she's just been invited into a world of palatial homes and eight-figure shopping sprees. Nick's mother Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh) has other ideas about who belongs in their world, and Rachel will have to prove herself or lose him.
