Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) grows up in group homes, unaware that his father was Apollo Creed, the legendary heavyweight champion. When he learns the truth, he moves to Philadelphia to find Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and ask him to train him as a boxer. Rocky is aging and reluctant, but Adonis is relentless, and between the gym and a relationship with Bianca (Tessa Thompson), he begins to build a life that might finally be his own.
