Crime and Punishment

Raskolnikov (Georgi Taratorkin) is a former student who cannot pay the rent on his apartment, and he believes he can solve that by committing a murder. Lev Kulidzhanov adapts Dostoevsky's novel as a two-part drama, following him once the police open their investigation. Porfiry Petrovitch (Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy) works the case, and Raskolnikov has to choose between hiding his guilt and giving in to the pressure to confess.
