Crime Without Passion
In 1934, Lee Gentry (Claude Rains) is a criminal lawyer who sees Katy Costello (Whitney Bourne) in public while keeping Carmen Brown (Margo), a dancer, in private. When he tries to end it, Carmen turns suicidal, and a struggle over her gun leaves him believing he has killed her. Hecht and MacArthur follow Gentry as he plans one alibi after another, a lawyer who now has only himself to defend.
