Crisis

A small-town piano teacher has raised Nelly (Inga Landgré) as her own, until a woman named Jenny (Marianne Löfgren) turns up at the door and says she is the girl's mother. Ingmar Bergman, in his first film as director, builds the story around a household that stops being steady the moment a stranger claims a place in it. Then Jack (Stig Olin), Jenny's young lover, follows her, and the piano teacher is left standing in the quiet of her own home.
