Critical Care

“At Memorial Hospital no one ever dies... Until their insurance runs out.”

In a hospital where the paperwork matters more than the patients, Dr. Werner Ernst (James Spader), a young resident, ends up in charge of a comatose man worth $10 million. His two half-sisters, Felicia (Kyra Sedgwick) and Stella (Helen Mirren), both claim to know what care their father needs. Sidney Lumet plays the whole thing flat and straight-faced, and lets the satire sit in the corridors.
