Crossroads

Rikiya (Junosuke Bandô) is in love with a courtesan when a fight in a brothel leaves ash in his eyes and him unable to see. He believes the blindness is permanent and that the man he fought is dead, so he goes home to his sister Okiku (Akiko Chihaya). Teinosuke Kinugasa follows her decision to sell herself into prostitution to pay for his treatment, with a brother who thinks himself a murderer and a sister with nothing left to give.
