Croupier

“Life's a gamble...”

Jack Manfred (Clive Owen) is a struggling writer who takes a job as a croupier to pay the bills. He deals cards and spins the wheel with his eyes on the players, convinced that gamblers are born to lose and that he can stay on the outside of it. Mike Hodges gives Jack a dry, noir-style voiceover, so the casino floor reaches us through his running commentary.
