Cruel Story of Youth

Makoto (Miyuki Kuwano) is a young woman drifting through Tokyo, living off whoever will pay, until she meets Kiyoshi (Yūsuke Kawazu), a hard young man who wants money and has no use for anyone who stands in the way. He seduces her, then finds she is good at hitchhiking, and starts using her to rob middle-class men who stop to give her a ride. Nagisa Ōshima, in his second feature, shoots the pair with the restless, handheld nerve of Japan's nuberu bagu.
