“’87 was heaven…”

Gio Marchetti (Spencer Boldman), a young Italian-American from the wrong side of the tracks in the 1980s, falls for Jessica Weintraub (Emily Ratajkowski), a Jewish girl from Long Island. Robert D. Siegel sets them across a line that their families, including Gio's parents, Mama and Papa Fortunato, have drawn without being asked. Love at that age takes over everything, and the film treats it as the only thing that matters.
