Cry of the City

“From the heart of its people comes the ... cry of the city.”

A wounded cop-killer lies in a hospital prison ward and still refuses to sign a confession that would clear a lawyer's client. Lt. Candella (Victor Mature) knows the Rome family, and he has to check the lawyer's story against a man he once knew. Robert Siodmak shot part of it on location in New York, and Martin Rome (Richard Conte) keeps moving through it to shield his girlfriend, whatever it costs the people around him.
