Nobody explains why a cavalry sergeant would take his daughter along on a march through an inhospitable mountain range, with a column of ruthless convicts in chains behind them. Sergeant Brown (Claudio Undari) commands a small detachment, and Joaquín Romero Marchent films the long walk in dry, bleached country where there is little shade and little talk. Cathy Brown (Emma Cohen) rides among the soldiers and the prisoners, and her father keeps close watch on both.
