In France in 1640, Cyrano de Bergerac (José Ferrer) is a swordsman and poet, known as much for his enormous nose as for his wit. He loves Roxane (Mala Powers), but she confides that her heart belongs to Christian (William Prince), a handsome young man who cannot find the words to court her. Michael Gordon follows Cyrano as he lends Christian his voice, a deception meant to be harmless that puts his own love at stake.
