“At last! Their epic story invades the Big Screen!”

A war is on in the English coastal town of Walmington-on-Sea, and the volunteers who answer the call are the ones too old or too unfit for the regular army. Captain Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe) takes charge of a platoon that includes Sergeant Wilson (John Le Mesurier) and Lance Corporal Jones (Clive Dunn). Norman Cohen films it as the early television episodes played, with the whole platoon framed together in the shot.
