Dan in Real Life

“Something's happening to Dan. It's confusing. It's awkward. It's family.”

The Burns family gathers at the parents' house on the Rhode Island coast for a weekend, and Dan (Steve Carell), a widowed advice columnist, arrives with his three daughters. In a bookshop he meets Marie (Juliette Binoche), and they talk for hours before he learns she is the new girlfriend of his brother Mitch (Dane Cook). Peter Hedges puts all three under one roof, where Dan has to sit across the dinner table from her.
