Dangerous Liaisons

“Lust. Seduction. Revenge. The game as you've never seen it played before.”

The Marquise de Merteuil (Glenn Close) offers her former lover, the Vicomte de Valmont (John Malkovich), one last night with her if he will seduce a young bride-to-be. That bride belongs to another of her ex-lovers, and Valmont has his own eyes on Madame de Tourvel (Michelle Pfeiffer). Stephen Frears sets the wager in 18th century France, among aristocrats whose letters and smiles are weapons.
