Dark Eyes

Aboard a ship early in the last century, Romano (Marcello Mastroianni), a middle-aged Italian, tells a Russian stranger the story of his life. He was a married man in Italy before the First World War, and then he fell in love with Anna (Elena Safonova), a Russian woman who is married too. Nikita Mikhalkov follows the two of them between Italy and Russia, with Romano still carrying her name years afterward.
