Dark Habits

In early-1980s Madrid, a cabaret singer named Yolanda Bel (Cristina Sánchez Pascual) watches her drug-pusher boyfriend die of a heroin overdose and runs before the police arrive. The only door open to her belongs to a convent for fallen women, where the nuns under Abadesa Julia (Julieta Serrano) are not what she expects. Pedro Almodóvar leaves Yolanda singing in the chapel, a cabaret performer in borrowed habit among the pews.
