Rick (Richard Denning), a geologist, wants only to reach shelter after the bombs fall. He ends up in a remote valley, in the home of Jim Madison (Paul Birch), a survivalist who lives there with his daughter Louise (Lori Nelson). Roger Corman packs Rick, a crook and his moll, and a prospector in with the Madisons, and the radioactivity keeps spreading outside the door.
