“In 2019, the most precious natural resource... is us.”

It is 2019, and a plague has turned nearly everyone into a vampire, leaving a few scattered humans and a blood supply that is running dry. Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke), a hematologist, works for a corporation owned by Charles Bromley (Sam Neill) that farms the survivors while he searches for a substitute. The Spierig brothers set it in a sleek, orderly city, and Edward keeps working because he can't stand the alternative.
