Days of Youth

A girl the two friends keep seeing on the slopes has no idea she is the reason they race each other uphill. Bin Watanabe (Ichiro Yuki) and Shuichi Yamamoto (Tatsuo Saitō) are university friends on a skiing trip, and each privately decides that Chieko (Junko Matsui) is his. Ozu, in the oldest of his films that survives, gives Bin the sort of earnest, ill-concealed longing that makes him easy to root for.
