A dying countess leaves her fortune to Arthur (Jean-Baptiste Lafarge), a young bohemian artist, on one condition: he must become a devout Catholic and marry Blandine (Herrade Von Meier). Réginald (Pascal Demolon), the old-fashioned notary, sees a way to save his crumbling castle and stop his daughter's engagement to a pretentious golden boy. As Réginald orchestrates the courtship, the schemes multiply and the household spirals into baroque farce.
