Dead of Winter

“Katie McGovern will do anything to become an actress. Even if it kills her… tonight it might.”

Katie McGovern (Mary Steenburgen) is a fledgling actress who answers an audition and ends up at a remote mansion, there for a screen-test with the odd Mr. Murray (Roddy McDowall). Mary Steenburgen also plays two other roles, and the stranger's offer gets harder to explain the longer she stays. Arthur Penn keeps her inside the big house, a young woman with her coat still on and the winter pressing at the windows.
