Dead Reckoning
“He Doesn't Trust Anyone... Especially Women!”
The war is over, and Captain Rip Murdock (Humphrey Bogart) and Sergeant Johnny Drake are riding a train to Washington, D.C., to be decorated for their service. Johnny jumps off before they arrive and turns up dead, so Rip starts asking questions about his friend's past, and the answers include Coral Chandler (Lizabeth Scott). John Cromwell shoots the nightclubs and rain-slick streets in hard shadow, and lets Bogart's face carry the suspicion.
