Deal of the Century

(1983)Directed by William Friedkin99 min · PGComedy
“Chevy Chase and his partners are arms dealers. They sell second-rate weapons to third world nations. But they're not out to stick it to anyone.”

In 1983, in a South American country run by Gen. Cordosa (William Marquez), arms dealers from rival companies gather to sell the most expensive, highest-tech weapons they can offer. Eddie Muntz (Chevy Chase) works the room beside Ray Kasternak (Gregory Hines), and William Friedkin keeps a straight face as the salesmen trade gifts to smooth each sale. Under the pitch, the film is about what a man will sell, and what he will tell himself while selling it.
