Dear God

(1996)Directed by Garry Marshall112 min · PGComedy
“Many people write to God. Somebody is answering.”

Tom Turner (Greg Kinnear) is a con man who gets a choice from a judge: jail, or a year of honest work. He lands in the Post Office's dead letter office, where he starts answering letters addressed to God, and soon his co-workers, including Rebecca Frazen (Laurie Metcalf), are writing back too. Garry Marshall lets a roomful of overlooked mail clerks do small favors for strangers, and the film suggests that kindness spreads from one person to the next.
