Dear John

“Love brought them together. Will fate tear them apart?”

John Tyree (Channing Tatum) is a soldier stationed in Germany, home on two weeks' leave when he dives off a pier to fetch a purse that has fallen into the ocean. It belongs to Savannah (Amanda Seyfried), and the two fall for each other fast, then promise to write when he ships back overseas. Lasse Hallström sets their romance in sunlit beach days, and the film mostly lives in the letters they send.
