Dear Thomas

Thomas Brasch (Albrecht Schuch) is born to German-Jewish exiles in England, then taken in the early 1950s to the young GDR, where his father Horst (Jörg Schüttauf) has gone to help build the new state. Thomas wants to write instead, and his first play is banned, his film school place gone soon after. Andreas Kleinert follows him from the 1968 street protest in Berlin through prison and parole, in black and white.
