Death and the Maiden

“Prepare yourself for the moment of truth.”

Paulina Escobar (Sigourney Weaver) hears a stranger's voice in her house and becomes certain that he is the man who tortured her for the government years ago. The guest is Dr. Roberto Miranda (Ben Kingsley), brought home by her husband Gerardo (Stuart Wilson), a lawyer who thinks she is mistaken. Roman Polanski keeps nearly the whole film inside one house, and the only picture that stays is Kingsley's face, held in the dark.
