Donald Clarke (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) is fifteen and dying, and he fills his sketchbooks with a superhero who cannot be hurt. His parents, James (Michael McElhatton) and Renata (Sharon Horgan), have no idea how to talk to him, so they send him to Dr. Adrian King (Andy Serkis), a therapist. Ian Fitzgibbon follows Donald as he draws and argues his way through the days he has left.
