A newlywed heiress, Linnet Ridgeway Doyle (Lois Chiles), is found dead aboard a steamer on the Nile, and every passenger with a reason to resent her is still on board. Hercule Poirot (Peter Ustinov) has booked the cruise for the sun and the food, and now he questions Jacqueline de Bellefort (Mia Farrow) and Marie Van Schuyler (Bette Davis) instead.
