Dedication

“Life is a thin line between love and fate.”

In New York in 2007, Henry Roth (Billy Crudup) writes a hit children's book series and has little patience for anyone, including himself. When his best friend and illustrator Rudy Holt (Tom Wilkinson) dies, Henry is forced to work with Lucy Reilly (Mandy Moore), a younger illustrator he doesn't want. Justin Theroux leaves Henry alone with her drawing table, the unfinished pages spread out between them.
