Deep Crimson

Coral Fabre (Regina Orozco) is a lonely, heavyset woman in Mexico who falls hard for Nicolás Estrella (Daniel Giménez Cacho), a charming con man who courts women to take their money. She leaves her old life to follow him, and the two set out together across the country, murder never far behind. Arturo Ripstein, working from the story of the 1940s Lonely Hearts Killers, keeps the pace slow and the mood close and airless.
