“Oceans rise. Cities fall. Hope survives.”

A seven-mile-wide comet is falling toward Earth, and President Tom Beck (Morgan Freeman) sends veteran astronaut Spurgeon "Fish" Tanner (Robert Duvall) to lead a joint American-Russian crew to destroy it. Mimi Leder splits the film between the crew and the people below, and the clock is the planet itself.
