Deep in the Heart

“A maze built on lies.”

Xiao Zongyao (Wang Xiaotian) is a man in a remote Chinese mountain village whose life is tangled up with two other local stories. Then a charred corpse turns up that nobody can identify, and the three stories are pulled toward the same spot. Xin Yukun builds the film as a mosaic of overlapping accounts, and the dread comes from watching them close in on one another.
