Deep Water

On the island of Jersey, off the French coast, Mélanie (Isabelle Huppert) keeps taking lovers, and her husband Vic (Jean-Louis Trintignant), a perfumer older than she is, appears to bear it with no feeling at all. Michel Deville watches the two of them through a marriage run on politeness, the young men coming and going from the house. Vic stays at his side of the room, calm and attentive, still holding his wife's eye.
