Defiance

“Freedom begins with an act of defiance”

Tuvia Bielski (Daniel Craig) wants to get as many Jews out of the Nazi-occupied forests of West Belarus as he can, starting with his own brothers. Edward Zwick, working from Nechama Tec's account of the Bielski partisans, follows Tuvia, Zus (Liev Schreiber) and Asael (Jamie Bell) as refugees gather around them by the hundreds. Tuvia never planned to lead anyone, and he now answers for every person who walks into his camp.
