Delicatessen

(1991)Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Marc Caro99 min · RComedy, Science Fiction, Fantasy
“A futuristic comic feast.”

Louison (Dominique Pinon) is a former clown who takes a job as handyman in a crumbling apartment building above a butcher shop, in a world where food is scarce. He falls for the butcher's daughter, Julie Clapet (Marie-Laure Dougnac), which puts him at odds with her father (Jean-Claude Dreyfus), who has his own plans for the new hire. Jeunet and Caro stage it all like a stage play, deadpan and strange, and Louison keeps his head down and his eyes on Julie.
