“You're never quite ready for what life delivers.”

David (Vince Vaughn) is an affable underachiever who wants one thing, to be taken seriously by the people around him, including Emma (Cobie Smulders), his pregnant girlfriend. Then a letter arrives: twenty years ago his anonymous clinic donations made him the father of 533 children, and 142 of them are suing to learn who he is. Ken Scott, remaking his own Starbuck, leaves David with a thick file of names and photos and nothing else.
