Desert Flower

“The extraordinary true story of the woman who crossed the desert and changed the world.”

Waris Dirie (Liya Kebede) grew up a nomad in Somalia and was promised in marriage at thirteen, to a man old enough to be her grandfather. Sherry Hormann follows her flight out of Africa and into London, where she meets Marylin (Sally Hawkins) and begins a path toward the modeling world. Years later she speaks at the United Nations, and the story turns on what the body is made to carry, and who gets to say so.
