Desperation

“In this town, there are no accidents.”

Strangers get pulled over on a Nevada highway, and the town of Desperation, where the sheriff takes them, has no one left in it. John Edward Marinville (Tom Skerritt), a writer, and Steve Ames (Steven Weber) and Mary Jackson (Annabeth Gish), a couple, end up locked in the same jail cell. Mick Garris adapts Stephen King's novel, and the cell forces together people who would never have spoken, each one leaning on whoever stands closest.
