Despite the Night

Lenz (Kristian Marr) comes back to Paris wanting one thing, to find the lover who has gone missing. He meets a grieving nurse, Hélène (Ariane Labed), and the two of them fall into a troubled, passionate love that has music running through it. Philippe Grandrieux works in smeared darkness and grain, and Hélène's face keeps surfacing out of the black, then sinking again.
