Destiny

Averroes (Nour El-Sherif), the great Islamic philosopher of 12th-century Andalusia, lives with his wife Zeinab and his daughter Salma, writing books that powerful men are starting to fear. The Caliph Al Mansour leans on extremists to raise his army, and they turn that power on the artists and thinkers around him. Youssef Chahine sets this against the Caliph's younger son Abdallah (Hani Salama), whom the zealots want for themselves.
