“It's time we knew.”

A police raid on an unlicensed bar sets off the 1967 uprising on Detroit's 12th Street, and the city is soon under curfew and patrolled by troops. Melvin Dismukes (John Boyega), a security guard, is posted to the streets, while Philip Krauss (Will Poulter), a police officer, answers a report of shots at the Algiers Motel. Kathryn Bigelow keeps two men on opposite sides of a badge in the same cramped rooms, and the film turns on what passes between them.
