Devdas

Devdas Mukherjee (Dilip Kumar) grows up in a small village beside Paro (Suchitra Sen), a neighbor he fights with as a boy and slowly stops wanting to be without. Bimal Roy adapts Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1917 novel, and Vyjayanthimala plays Chandramukhi, a tawaif whose path will cross his. At bottom it is a story about how love can sit ready for years and still be left too late.
