Devi

Doyamoyee (Sharmila Tagore) is a young bride living in her father-in-law's household, where Kalikinkar Roy (Chhabi Biswas) holds the family to his strict devotion to Kali. One night he dreams that she is the goddess herself and begins to worship her. Satyajit Ray keeps her husband, Umaprasad (Soumitra Chatterjee), away studying in Calcutta, so the love the two shared is left waiting on whatever the household decides she is.
