Devil in a Blue Dress
“Private detective Easy Rawlins has been caught on the wrong side of the most dangerous secret in town.”
A white stranger in a bar offers money to find a missing woman, Daphne Monet, and says she is probably hiding in one of the city's black jazz clubs. Easy Rawlins (Denzel Washington), a laid-off veteran in 1940s Los Angeles with house payments due, takes the job from DeWitt Albright (Tom Sizemore). Carl Franklin adapts Walter Mosley's novel with a plain, even eye for the city.
