Devilman - Volume 1: The Birth

(1987)Directed by Umanosuke Iida51 minAction, Fantasy, Horror, Animation

In Tokyo, Akira Fudou (Show Hayami) is an ordinary kid until his old friend Ryo (Yu Mizushima) turns up with a warning that demons are coming for humanity. The only way for a human to fight one is to take on its power, so Ryo arranges a ceremony and Akira agrees to risk it. Umanosuke Iida's animated film comes down to one plain idea: to defend people, Akira has to let a demon into his own body.
