Devil's Knot

“They say the crimes were satanic. The truth may be scarier.”

Ron Lax (Colin Firth) is an investigator who takes up the case of three young boys found murdered, then watches the town pin it on three teenagers accused of a satanic ritual killing. Pam Hobbs (Reese Witherspoon) is one of the grieving parents, and the trial rests on rumor and fear more than evidence. Atom Egoyan, working from Mara Leveritt's book, stages the case in plain, steady scenes and lets the facts speak.
