“Is this the man she was waiting for... or the man who was waiting for her?”

Tony Wendice (Ray Milland) wants his wife's money and her out of the way, so he hatches a plan to have her murdered. He recruits an old acquaintance to do the job, then watches from across town as the appointed evening arrives. Hitchcock builds the tension through a single room and a telephone, keeping us locked in the mechanics of the scheme as it begins to slip.
